You will work on the polymeric Anion Exchange Membrane that is a key component of our electrolyzer, and you will explore pathways to improve it.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Research anion exchange membranes 
  • Continuous characterization and assessment of different commercial and experimental membrane products
  • Integration of AEM into the Enapter stack and optimization of stack architecture 
  • Support for stack production 

Qualifications:

  • Good English communication skills 
  • Knowledge of polymer and membranes and understanding of water electrolysis 
  • Knowledge of heterogenous catalysis

Chemistry Lab Manager Via Lavoria, Crespina, Pisa, Italy

We are looking for a Chemistry Lab Manager to join our growing start-up and work with our Chemistry team in Pisa, Italy. You will be working with a team of R&D scientist, ensuring team organization and success.

You will understand the strategic goals of the company and ensure day-to-day alignment of activities according to these goals. You communicate effectively and appropriately, manage competencies on the team and ensure the completion of tasks and deadlines in a timely manner. You should have a good understanding of electrochemical systems to allow you to hit the ground running.

You should be excited about changing the world with green hydrogen.

 

Tasks:

  • Help plan the teams’ projects and support daily operations to enable smooth execution of the project tasks
  • Establish modern feedback culture – help team keep sight of their roles, tasks, and goals
  • Ensure resources are allocated correctly and tools and equipment are available
  • Support hiring process and onboarding of new research staff
  • Work with management to define new laboratory requirements and layouts, support construction and set up of additional lab facilities where needed
  • Ensure communication and alignment between teams in R&D

 

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in chemistry or similar
  • Relevant experience with managing a science laboratory or research team
  • Understanding of both academic and industrial R&D
  • 5-6 years of team management experience, preferably with internationals teams
  • Fluent in English, any other language an advantage
  • Effective and excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of agile management tools

Mechanical Modelling and Simulation (FEM — CAE) Engineer Via Lavoria, Crespina, Pisa, Italy

A multitude of solutions at very large to very small scale will satisfy energy needs in distributed energy systems provided by many different players in these markets. Hydrogen is a centerpiece in this puzzle and Enapter is in the heart of green hydrogen production. We are a fast-growing start-up on a mission to become the price and market leader for decentralised green hydrogen generation. We do this by leveraging our disruptive AEM technology and scaling the production of small/mid-scale electrolyser systems. Our software-based energy management system is a key enabler of wide-spread deployment, allowing for seamless and intuitive integration of hydrogen technologies into any energy system.

Our team is growing fast and currently we are looking for a Mechanical Modelling and Simulation (FEM – CAE) Engineer. You will fill a gap in our team’s skillset, and you will have an important role in setting up the engineering team structure. You will be an integral part of the development process, occupying the intersection between the engineering and chemistry teams. Be ready for a dynamic environment!

Responsibilities

  • Perform FEM — CAE simulation for the development of the electrolytic stack
  • Lead the mechanical design and optimisation of the electrolytic stack
  • Oversee and enabling the rapid prototyping of new system components
  • Design optimisation and selection of fluid dynamic components incl. gaskets for gases and liquids by performing quantitative sensitivity analyses
  • Provide support in documentation for the prototyping of Electrolyser stacks and systems
  • Supporting production and aftermarket

Useful skills / qualifications

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Expertise in mechanical modelling (FEM) is a must
  • Experience in the following simulation aspects would be beneficial but not mandatory: Non-linear analysis, contact formulation, hyperplastic and viscoelastic-plastic material, gaskets creeps and viscous responses“pressure device” and/or in sealing modelling and Fluid-structure interaction
  • Good English communication skills
  • Knowledge in CAD-software tools (Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks) and FEM-CAE software (Ansys, Nastram, Abaqus, COMSOL,..)
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as : Matlab, Python would be advantageous
