Enapter Wins Start Up Energy Transition Award

Presented at the international Start-Up Energy Transition SET 2019 Festival in Berlin

April 10, 2019

More than 450 companies from over 80 countries applied, with 15 becoming finalists at the Start-Up Energy Transition (SET) festival 2019 in Berlin. It was Enapter that came out on top for the Low Carbon Energy Production category, pitching its technology for sector coupling with green hydrogen!

The pitch started by questioning why energy needs are not predominantly met by renewable sources if they have become cheaper than fossil fuels. Sectors like industry or long distance and heavy transport can hardly be electrified. They need a solution in the form of molecules and not electrons. Hello, hydrogen! As an alternative fuel, it is a hydrocarbon that can be made from renewables and that can effectively couple green electricity with all sectors of energy – and not only power.

With a new award in hand, the team was invited to speak at the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue. Enapter also had the opportunity to meet Svenja Schulze, the German Minister of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. Later, the team was invited to the World Energy Council (WEC) in Abu Dhabi. Minister of Energy Suhail Mohamed alMazrouei got to know Enapter and invited us to close the WEC event with him on stage.

Start Up Energy Transition (SET) is a global innovation platform supporting innovation in the energy transition. SET is implemented with the conviction that a sustainable future is directly linked to innovative business models and political will. The SET platform is powered by the German Energy Agency (dena), in cooperation with the World Energy Council.
