District-wide energy storage on a Dutch island
The InnovaHub District project of our partner Hylife Innovations will produce decentralised green hydrogen on the Dutch island of Goeree-Overflakkee, providing a residential district in Stad aan‘t Haringvliet with renewable electricity, heat, and cooling.
30 AEM Electrolysers will be supplied with electricity from rooftop solar panels to produce green hydrogen for 17 households and boost the district’s energy self-sufficiency to up to 90%.
Get to know Rosalie, Manu and Niels from the Hylife team to learn more about their grid balancing and electricity storage solution. Follow their journey from the project’s vision, through the assembling and testing of the system, to its final commissioning.

Get a QuoteIn the first episode of our video series, Manu and Niels from Hylife Innovations share the vision of their project, explain how the InnovaHub system works in detail and spell out the role that the 30 AEM Electrolysers play.
Part two of our short video documentary is all about getting an update on the assembly and testing of the devices. Hylife’s project manager Rosalie also shows us around the district where construction work is progressing rapidly – 30 AEM Electrolysers can start their decentralised green hydrogen production soon.
About HyLife Innovations
Hylife Innovations from the Netherlands is a company that develops sustainable solutions for the energy transition that intertwine energy, mobility and living in an emission-free, safe and almost completely self-sufficient way. Their innovations are characterised by an integrated approach including various proven clean technologies combined with intelligent software.
In Veldhoven near Eindhoven, the Hylife team is working on integrating all components, testing the system and configuring its software. Meanwhile, construction works to build the district are taking place on the Dutch island of Goeree-Overflakkee. This is where Hylife's InnovaHub project will soon begin its work.
About InnovaHub Disctrict
InnovaHub District is a multifunctional power plant providing a residential district with renewable electricity, heat and cooling. The system will ensure that all energy generation and consumption in the homes and district are utilised as intelligently as possible. It draws on 30 AEM Electrolysers to produce green hydrogen with excess solar energy that will then be stored for seasonal use. The role of H2 here is to store energy and act as a buffer for the grid. Their first pioneering project will start producing decentralised green hydrogen on the Dutch island of Goeree-Overflakkee in the upcoming weeks.
