Growth on track in H1 report

The Enapter team is happy to report on a successful first half of 2024, one in which we were able to achieve a five-fold increase in order intake compared to H1 2023 – totalling EUR 23.4 million.

Numerous orders for megawatt-class devices from Germany, Europe, Asia and the USA helped drive this growth – but above all, orders of our AEM Nexus system from Italy had the biggest impact. On top of this, we continue to see strong demand for our compact single-core systems for smaller green hydrogen needs as well as initial H2 R&D and pilot projects.

Due to the positive demand and resulting order development, we can also confirm our revenue forecast for the 2024 financial year. For more details, read the half-year financial report here.

Italy returns with 5MW of AEM orders

At the end of summer, we also received our largest single order from Europe to date – 4 MW of AEM Electrolysers from Opificio Idrogeno Marche (OIM), an investee company of Renco and Pollarini Group. The four Nexus 1000 multicore electrolysers are intended for the Marche region in eastern Italy, where one of 52 state-funded Italian ‘Hydrogen Valleys’ is currently being developed.

Plans include a H2 production plant powered by renewable energies and a H2 refuelling station, with the green hydrogen produced with Enapter’s electrolysers primarily to be used to refuel vehicles.

Enapter will also supply a further 1 MW electrolyser to the energy company FMC s.r.l from Italy’s Montefusco region. FMC produces PV modules, among other things, and will use the AEM Nexus to develop a H2 production plant located in the industrial area of Pianodardine, in the city of Avellino. Using photovoltaic solar sources, the H2 produced is intended to be distributed for industrial uses.

Hydrogen Expo, Piacenza recap

With such excellent recent sales from Italy, strong Italian roots and our electrolyser production near Pisa, Enapter enjoyed a highly successful fair at the HYDROGEN EXPO in Piacenza last month.

Here were our three main takeaways:

  1. Italy’s hydrogen economy is on the rise: The Italian government is rapidly advancing hydrogen use across numerous applications, driven by its national PNRR funding program. This momentum was evident in the bustling crowd throughout the event, with our Enapter booth among the busiest.
  2. Our AEM Nexus is the perfect fit for Hydrogen Valleys: While we empower pilot projects with our compact 2.4 kW electrolyser and flexible 70-120 kW system, the main focus was on our larger multi-core systems. Enapter has already secured binding contracts totaling 11.5 MW of AEM Nexus capacity across some of the 52 Hydrogen Valley projects being established in Italy, and there’s more to come.
  3. Italy is getting real on H2: Potential customers came to us with specific project requirements at the expo, appreciating Enapter’s proven track record in delivering real-world hydrogen solutions.

New H2 use cases from our partners

This month, we’re exploring two new H2 use cases featuring our electrolysers in Germany:

In Osnabrück, northwest Germany, H2 Core Systems delivered and commissioned four of their Outdoor Hydrocabs® for the multinational firm Honeywell, where it manufactures and tests advanced products for gas protection, measurement and control. The Hydrocabs fit 18 AEM Electrolysers EL 4, and the system has cut Honeywell’s green hydrogen costs from €150/kg to €22/kg. Read more here.

Meanwhile, in the south, our partner ostermeier H2ydrogen Solutions GmbH installed eight of our compact AEM Electrolyser systems in Energiepark research facilities of the Ulm University of Applied Sciences (THU). This practical research project aims to use renewable energies flexibly to ensure sustainable power generation regardless of weather and grid utilisation. Check it out here.
