Low cost green H2 production for R&D facilities

Honeywell, a globally active Fortune 500 company operating in various business sectors and with comprehensive expertise in gas supply and use, has reduced its H2 production costs in Germany by more than 85% with on-site green hydrogen production from our partner H2 Core Systems.

H2 Core Systems delivered and commissioned four of their Outdoor Hydrocabs® for Honeywell’s Osnabrück site in Germany, where Honeywell manufactures advanced products for gas protection, measurement and control – and green hydrogen plays an important role.

Powered by an impressive 44 kWp photovoltaic system installed on the roof of the laboratory building, 18 of Enapter’s AEM Electrolysers inside the Hydrocabs produce on-site green hydrogen. The hydrogen is stored in a 13m³ pressure tank for safe and efficient use in their research facilities, powering burners with up to 1 MW of firing capacity.

H2 Core Systems’ turnkey system allows Honeywell to manage the entire green hydrogen process—from generation to distribution, measurement, control and use. Beyond innovation, the investment brings tangible savings, reducing H2 production costs from €150/kg to an impressive €22/kg.
